Long Holiday, KAI Yogyakarta Deploys 7 Extra Trains

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI Daerah Operasi 6 Yogyakarta is preparing seven additional or extra trains to serve the surge in passengers during the national holiday and joint leave period for the Ascension of Jesus Christ on 13–17 May 2026. The addition of trips is intended to support public mobility utilising the long weekend holiday. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Feni Novida Saragih, stated that rail transport remains the primary choice for the public travelling with family during the holiday season. “To support public mobility during this long weekend holiday, KAI Daop 6 has made various preparations, one of which is deploying additional KA from economy to executive class,” said Feni on Monday, 11 May 2026. According to Feni, the presence of these additional trips is expected to provide more departure schedule alternatives for the public intending to travel by train. She urged the public to plan their trips well in advance and book tickets promptly. Train tickets can be booked starting 45 days before departure via the Access by KAI app, the official KAI website, or other official sales channels. Additionally, passengers are asked to schedule their departure to the station without being too tight to the train schedule. “We also invite the public to manage their departure time from home or accommodation to the station so as not to be too close, thus avoiding missing the train,” said Feni. KAI Daop 6 assures that all trips during the long holiday period will prioritise safety, comfort, and punctuality, supported by services at stations and during the train journey. KA Tambahan Yogyakarta-Gambir (7009C) Yogyakarta-Gambir route for 13-17 May 2026 5. KA Tambahan Solobalapan-Bandung (7011C) Solobalapan-Bandung route for 13-17 May 2026 6. KA Tambahan Solobalapan-Bandung (7013C) Solobalapan-Bandung route for 13-17 May 2026 7. KA Tambahan Lempuyangan-Pasarsenen (7039) Lempuyangan-Pasarsenen route for 13-17 May 2026 For the KA Tambahan Lempuyangan–Pasar Senen series in particular, KAI is reintroducing the Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan service as an affordable travel alternative for the public.
