JAKARTA – Long holiday coinciding with Pancasila Day has boosted passenger numbers on the Whoosh high-speed train. PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) recorded a 15% increase in passenger volume compared to regular days, with the Jakarta-Bandung route being the most popular. By Saturday (30 May 2026) morning, Whoosh ticket sales had reached approximately 12,000. KCIC expects passenger numbers to rise to around 20,000 by the end of the day. “Departure schedules between 7am and 12pm WIB have recorded occupancy rates above 80 percent,” said Eva in a statement on Saturday. She added that the surge in passenger numbers during this long holiday period was mainly due to people travelling from Jakarta to Bandung for leisure. Eva stated that KCIC has prepared various facilities to support passenger comfort during the heightened mobility period, both at stations and on the trains. One of the most utilised facilities is the charging service or power outlets available in station waiting areas and on the Whoosh trains. “Whoosh provides various travel support facilities, including charging points in station waiting areas and on board for passengers’ devices,” Eva said. KCIC explained that the power outlets can be used to charge personal electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and power banks with reasonable power demands. However, the company warned passengers not to use additional power terminals, high-wattage devices, or modified equipment as they could compromise safety and comfort. Passengers are also advised not to forcibly unplug connected devices or leave charging electronics unattended. “Power outlets at stations and on Whoosh are provided to support passengers’ personal device needs during travel. We urge all passengers to use charging facilities responsibly and respect fellow users,” Eva said. KCIC anticipates continued high travel volumes throughout the long holiday period as increased mobility sees people using the extended weekend for leisure or family visits. Whoosh currently serves the Jakarta-Bandung route with four stations – Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar Summarecon – operating at a top speed of 350 kilometres per hour.
