The number of long-distance train (KA) passengers in the PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 6 Yogyakarta region surged significantly from H-1 Eid to Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. Based on data from Daop 6 Yogyakarta, on H-1 Eid, or Friday, 20 March 2026, the total number of passengers was recorded at more than 45,597 people. Of this number, 24,624 passengers were arrivals, while 20,973 were departures. On Saturday, 21 March 2026, coinciding with Eid al-Fitr, the number of passengers increased to 53,287 people. The breakdown was 30,812 arriving passengers and 22,475 departing passengers. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Feni Novida Saragih, stated that this surge indicates the high mobility of the public during Eid. “On Eid al-Fitr today, the number of passengers is monitored at more than 53,000 people, with arrivals still dominating,” Feni told reporters on Saturday, 21 March 2026. She added that this increasing trend is not yet at its peak. The peak of arrivals is predicted to occur on 22 March 2026. “The predicted number of arriving passengers on 22 March has the potential to exceed more than 30,000 people in a single day,” Feni said. Regarding ticket availability, on H-1 Eid, 6,925 tickets were still available until midnight. However, on Eid day, the number of remaining tickets decreased to 5,131. “There are still thousands of tickets available for the public who wish to travel, both on H-1 and Eid day,” she said. Cumulatively, the ticket sales rate also experienced an increase. Up to 20 March 2026, 436,827 tickets were sold, or 84 percent of total capacity. This figure rose to 450,044 tickets, or 85 percent, on 21 March 2026. Nevertheless, KAI stated that tens of thousands of tickets are still available until the end of the Eid transportation period on 1 April 2026. In terms of stations, Yogyakarta Station was the point with the highest activity. On 20 March, the number of arrivals at this station reached 9,984 passengers and increased to 10,816 on 21 March. Meanwhile, for departures, 8,441 passengers were recorded on H-1 Eid and 7,025 on Eid day. Solobalapan and Lempuyangan Stations also served as important hubs with high passenger volumes, both for arrivals and departures. Feni urged the public to plan their trips well. “We remind customers to confirm departure schedules and manage travel time to the station to avoid rushing,” she said. In addition, she encouraged the public to book tickets promptly and utilise the connecting train feature as an alternative for travel.
