Long-Distance Train Operations Gradually Recovering, Nearly All Journeys Running on Time
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has stated that long-distance train operations on Friday, 1 May 2026, are showing a strengthening recovery trend, with nearly all journeys now running on time.
Based on the report for the period from Friday (1/5) at 00:01 WIB to 12:00 WIB, operational performance continues to improve across various routes as journey scheduling is adjusted gradually.
In terms of departures, out of a total of 144 train journeys, 143 trains or 99.31% departed on time, while one train experienced a delay of 17 minutes.
Meanwhile, in terms of arrivals, out of a total of 140 train journeys, 99 trains or 70.71% arrived on time.
The arrival delays that occurred are generally in the range of less than 20 minutes up to around 30 minutes, thus remaining within the category of manageable delays in the operational normalisation process.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that the current operational conditions continue to show improvement.
“Most train journeys have returned to running according to schedule. We continue to ensure that operational adjustments are made in a measured manner, prioritising safety, so that services can return to full normality,” said Anne.
KAI also ensures that customer rights are fulfilled through a full ticket refund policy due to the Bekasi Timur incident. As of 1 May 2026 at 08:00 WIB, 20,750 long-distance train tickets have been successfully refunded to customers.
Refunds are made at 100% excluding booking fees and can be accessed through various service channels, including station counters, Contact Center 121, and the Access by KAI application.
“KAI continues to maintain service consistency and ensure that train journeys can return to optimal operation in line with the ongoing recovery process,” Anne concluded.
