Long-Distance Train Collides with KRL, Several Journeys Disrupted
A collision involving a long-distance train and the KRL Commuter Line took place at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday evening (27/4/2026). As a result, several train journeys were affected by the accident.
Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, conveyed that KAI extends its apologies to customers for the incident. According to him, PT KAI, along with the police, is currently conducting the evacuation of the train consist and handling victims at the scene.
“We are making every possible effort to restore normal train operations as quickly as possible,” he stated in his press release on Monday.
He explained that the incident occurred in the Bekasi Timur area, specifically on the platform at Bekasi Timur Station KM 28+920 on Monday at 20:52 WIB. The event was caused by the PLB 5568A (CL KPB–CKR) being hit by PLB 4B (KA Argo Bromo Anggrek route Gambir–Surabaya Pasar Turi) at the location, impacting train operations on that line.
KAI stated that field personnel have acted swiftly to handle and secure the site. KAI is also coordinating with relevant parties to accelerate the evacuation process and restoration of services. As a safety measure, the overhead power supply (LAA) on the Cibitung–Bekasi Timur line and the Bekasi Timur platform has been temporarily deactivated.
“The cause of the incident and the number of affected KA journeys are still under investigation and further data collection. Information will be updated periodically,” he said.
KAI also urged the public to always exercise caution and comply with safety rules, particularly in rail track areas and level crossings, to prevent similar occurrences. Further information will be provided as handling progresses on the ground.
