Rising demand for fast and flexible distribution is driving growth in long-distance delivery services across Indonesia. Lalamove Indonesia, an on-demand delivery and transportation platform, reported a 47% year-on-year increase in long-distance deliveries during January-April 2026 compared to the same period last year. This growth reflects an increasing number of businesses relying on flexible delivery services to support operations without investing in their own fleets. “The growth in long-distance deliveries highlights the expanding logistics needs beyond instant urban deliveries, extending to more efficient inter-regional distribution. Lalamove aims to remain a logistics partner, helping businesses grow through accessible and flexible delivery solutions,” said Managing Director Andito B Prakoso on Thursday (28 May). Through its long-distance delivery service, Lalamove provides a logistics solution that helps businesses improve operational cost efficiency, from fuel savings and vehicle maintenance to internal fleet management. According to Lalamove’s internal data, 78% of long-distance deliveries fall within the 50-80km range, followed by 9% for 80-100km and 13% for over 100km. The most frequently used routes include Jakarta-Tangerang, Jakarta-Cikarang, and Jakarta-Bandung. “The high volume of deliveries on these routes reflects dynamic distribution needs in economic buffer zones and hubs. This trend aligns with growing demand for rapid distribution in metropolitan outskirts, driven by trade and SME growth,” Andito explained. To cater to diverse delivery needs, Lalamove offers a range of vehicle options, from sedans and vans to pickup trucks, tailored to business requirements. Company data shows pickup trucks are the most used for long-distance deliveries at 27%, followed by vans at 22% and sedans at 21%. In terms of industry, retail and wholesale sectors are the top users of long-distance delivery services. This trend demonstrates how businesses increasingly require practical, fast, and flexible logistics solutions to ensure smooth and comfortable cargo distribution. “As business mobility and distribution activities increase across regions, we remain committed to delivering market-relevant logistics solutions that help businesses enhance operational efficiency amid increasingly dynamic competition,” he concluded. Angga, a Bekasi-based food and household goods distributor, said he uses Lalamove daily to deliver to various online sellers since 2022. He found it helpful in reducing operational costs, with diverse vehicle options and a toll payment feature via the app, making cross-regional deliveries easier and more transparent.
