Long-Awaited Harvest: Jember Farmers Begin Picking Robusta Coffee

In Jember, East Java, the arrival of the harvest season has brought a flurry of activity, with farmers beginning to pick robusta coffee cherries. The harvesting is carried out selectively, with workers carefully choosing only the ripe, red cherries to ensure the quality of the distinctive Kahyangan coffee.

The activity is centred on the Gunung Pasang plantation, located on the slopes of the Panti sub-district. This 1,069-hectare estate, managed by the regional public company Perumda Perkebunan Kahyangan, stretches between Kemiri and Suci villages. The cool mountain landscape not only provides ideal growing conditions but also serves as a crucial source of livelihood for hundreds of local residents.
