London Zoo to Allow Visitors to Observe Animal Operations
Visitors to London Zoo in England will be able to observe animal examinations and operations as part of the celebrations for the zoo’s 200th anniversary in mid-April 2026.
The zoo also announced plans to build a modern animal health centre to facilitate these activities, as reported by CNN on Friday, 15 May 2026.
According to a statement released by London Zoo, the animal health centre will be equipped with a special observation gallery for visitors.
Through a large window in the operating room, visitors will be able to directly observe the medical team handling various animals, from penguins to tigers.
Visitors will not only be able to witness routine examinations but also surgical procedures and animal autopsies.
According to Saverimuttu, the animal health centre will also serve as an opportunity to show the public how veterinary science plays an important role in maintaining the welfare of animals in the zoo and in wildlife conservation.
“We hope that by allowing people to enter the animal health centre, they will be inspired to get involved in conservation,” said Saverimuttu in an official London Zoo video.
