The Lombok Utara Police District arrested a man identified as WAS, alias Gerot (32), suspected of breaking into four shops in Pemenang, Lombok Utara, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB). Gerot was apprehended while hiding in bushes to evade officers.

“The suspect fled to an area outside a boarding house and crouched in bushes to hide, but we successfully apprehended him,” said Lombok Utara Police District Crime Unit Chief Iptu I Komang Wilandra on Sunday, 31 May 2026.

Gerot was arrested in the early hours of Sunday (31 May). The 32-year-old had stolen from one of the shops in Pemenang, with one of the incidents occurring on Friday, 22 May.

According to Komang, Gerot carried out his crimes at night, using forced entry to damage padlocks on shop doors.

“The suspect operated when the area was quiet. Victims found the main doors open and padlocks damaged when they arrived the next morning,” he added.

Komang stated Gerot also stole an outboard motor worth Rp30 million from the shop. After realising their belongings had been stolen, victims reported the incidents to police. Following an investigation, authorities arrested the suspect in Mataram, NTB.

“We also seized evidence believed to be proceeds of the crime,” Komang said.

Following the arrest, police recovered items including an outboard motor, safe, laptop, mobile phone, and motorcycle. Komang confirmed the suspect and evidence are being held at Lombok Utara Police District.

“We are still conducting investigations and follow-up inquiries,” he concluded.
