The Central Lombok District Attorney’s Office (Kejari) in West Nusa Tenggara is mapping potential leakages in Regional Original Income (PAD) from the parking sector as part of an effort to prevent corruption through the strengthening of regional revenue governance.

“One of the sectors receiving attention is the management of parking taxes and retribution, which still holds great potential for optimisation,” said the Head of the Intelligence Section of the Central Lombok Prosecutor’s Office, Alfa Dera, in Central Lombok on Saturday.

He stated that the mapping process identified several indicators suggesting the need for a thorough evaluation of the parking management system, covering both parking tax objects and roadside parking retribution.

According to him, this step serves as a form of support for the Central Lombok Regency Government in maximising regional revenue through governance that is more transparent, accountable, and in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.

The Prosecutor’s Office is closely monitoring the realisation of parking tax revenue, which is recorded at approximately Rp1.6 billion per year. Of that amount, about Rp1.5 billion originates from a single major parking object located in the Lombok International Airport area.

“This data serves as material for joint evaluation. Certainly, more optimal data collection and supervision are required to ensure all regional potential is properly accommodated,” he said.

Similar attention is being directed towards the roadside parking retribution sector. Based on available data, the realisation of regional revenue in this sector remains around Rp300 million per year.

Assuming there are 100 parking spots in Central Lombok, the average deposit entering the regional treasury is only around Rp8,000 to Rp9,000 per day from each parking spot.

“The figures from this database are what trigger a ‘red flag’ (initial indication). Is the parking potential truly that small, or is there a serious issue in governance and supervision that must be immediately rectified?” he asked.

“Efforts to improve PAD governance require the support of all stakeholders, including the local government, the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), business actors, and the community,” he added.

He urged all parties to support the improvement measures being undertaken by the local government so that every potential revenue stream can be managed maximally for the benefit of the people of Central Lombok.
