Lombok Tengah – The Lombok Tengah Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), in the province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has prepared 300 clean-water tanks to meet community needs during the 2026 dry season. ‘There has been a growing demand for clean water ahead of the 2026 dry season,’ said Ridwan Maruf, head of the BPBD Lombok Tengah, in Lombok Tengah on Saturday.

According to information from BMKG, the 2026 dry season is forecast to be longer than that of 2025. ‘The current conditions are still rainy, but the demand for clean water is already visible, even if not large,’ he said.

If we learn from previous years, he said, by May the dry season will have started, which will push demand for clean water higher. However, in the last few days it has still rained very heavily, which even caused a tree to fall on a resident’s house in Kerembong Village, Janapria District.

‘We have prepared two fleet vehicles that can be dispatched to deliver water whenever there is demand from the community,’ he said. ‘What is clear is that BPBD is ready to distribute clean water to the community whenever there is demand,’ he added.

He urged residents to be prudent in water use and not to waste it as the 2026 dry season approaches. ‘We hope residents will begin storing water,’ he concluded.
