Lombok Residents Counter-Report SPPG Head After Maggot-Infested Free Nutritious Food Bread Incident: Case Halted
Residents named Baiq Restu Tunggal Kencana, who went viral for exposing maggot-infested Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) bread in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), are now fighting back. She has counter-reported the Head of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) of Ketara Village, Pujut Subdistrict, named Alman Putra.
Baiq was previously reported to the police by Alman. Alman reported Baiq and her sibling, Jamiatul Munawarah, on suspicion of defamation for uploading photos of the maggot-containing MBG bread.
“We, as the respondents in the previous defamation case, are now counter-reporting under Article 361 for false reporting, Article 342 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code for threatening life and health, and Article 434 of the Criminal Code for slander,” said Rodi Fatoni, Baiq Restu’s legal representative, after submitting the report at Central Lombok Police Resort on Saturday (4/4/2026).
Fatoni stated that his client is counter-reporting Alman because she feels harmed. Moreover, the MBG menu in the form of bread distributed by the SPPG under Alman’s leadership has been proven to contain maggots.
“The harm is clear; my client feels mentally disturbed, psychologically affected, which impacts her child’s health—she couldn’t leave the child at home and had to bring them along from morning for the examination process,” said Fatoni.
Observations by detikBali showed Baiq Restu arriving at the Criminal Investigation Unit of Central Lombok Police Resort around 12:00 WITA. She was accompanied by family and her legal representative. Shortly after, she moved to the General Criminal Unit (Pidum) room of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Central Lombok Police Resort to provide a statement to investigators.
Fatoni described Alman’s previous report as fabricated. According to him, Alman’s actions are merely an attempt to pressure the public into not monitoring the MBG programme.
“Because what happened in the field is indeed the reality that the food distributed by the SPPG in Ketara Village does contain maggots,” he added.
Fatoni then referenced the statement from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), which encourages the public to monitor the implementation of the MBG programme, including by viralising videos of MBG menus on social media, as his client did.
Furthermore, Fatoni emphasised that today’s report is a form of self-defence for his client against the defamation charges from Alman Putra. He urged investigators at the Criminal Investigation Unit of Central Lombok Police Resort to promptly summon and examine Alman Putra.
detikBali has attempted to contact Alman Putra for comment on the report against him. However, the Head of SPPG in Ketara Village has not responded as of this article’s publication.
Case Chronology
Baiq and Jamiatul were initially reported to the police after posting suspected maggot-containing MBG menus. Based on summons letter number B/677/III/RES.2.5/2026/RESKRIM, they were called by investigators at Central Lombok Police Resort regarding alleged defamation against an Indonesian Development Driver Bachelor (SPPI) named Alman Putra as the complainant.
“Today I came to Central Lombok Police Resort for clarification on the maggot-infested MBG bread issue. Reported for defamation,” said Jamiatul to the media after being examined by investigators from the Specific Criminal Unit (Tipidter) at the Criminal Investigation Unit of Central Lombok Police Resort on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
Jamiatul emphasised that in her social media post, she did not mention any specific party, including the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) or the food provider.
“But in that post, no name or SPPG was mentioned,” she said.
Jamiatul explained that the incident began on 10 March 2026 around 10:30 WITA when her family received the MBG menu at the integrated health post. The bread distributed by the SPPG in Ketara Village was said to contain worms or maggots.
“Coincidentally, the MBG recipient is my toddler child and my sister (Baiq Restu) who is still breastfeeding. She then found the bread menu containing worms or maggots. I asked my sister if this is from school, with the sentence to please check the received MBG menu, because the one I received has maggots,” she stated.
After that, Jamiatul uploaded photos and videos of the bread on her Facebook account with a caption questioning the responsibility of the relevant parties, “Where is your responsibility,” along with Opick’s song titled Astagfirullah. She also claimed not to have included the name of the kitchen or food provider in the post.
“There, I didn’t mention the SPPG, the kitchen, or the kitchen’s address. But strangely, in the summons letter I received, it’s because of defamation,” she explained.
What surprised her even more, Jamiatul never mentioned any name or institution in the post at all. She questioned the basis for the SPPI reporting her.
“Even though in that post, no institution or person’s name came to mind,” she asserted.
SPPG Kitchen Suspended
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily halted the operations of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Ketara Village, Pujut Subdistrict, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). This action was taken after BGN received information that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) menu distributed by the SPPG contained maggots.
Head of BGN Regional Office NTB, Eko Prasetyo, said the suspension letter was issued as of 10 March 2026. He stated that the policy was based on field verification and investigation results.
“Yes (operations stopped). So, every incident reported by the public, we immediately suspend. (But) it’s the leadership that decides,” said Eko via telephone to detikBali on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
Defamation Case Investigation Halted
Previously, Central Lombok Police Resort halted the investigation into the alleged defamation case against Alman Putra. The respondents in this case are two residents named Jamiatul Marwah and Lalu Muin. Alman reported them for defamation after they uploaded maggot-containing MBG menus on social media.
