Lombok Man Named Suspect in 35g Gold Theft from Woman

The Central Lombok Police (Polres Lombok Tengah) has named a man identified as RN alias AK (50) as a suspect. RN was previously arrested for snatching 35 grams of gold belonging to a woman named Rianah (51) in Ranggagata Village, Praya Barat Daya Subdistrict, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

“He has been named as a suspect,” said the Head of the Public Relations Section for Central Lombok Police, Iptu Lalu Brata Kusnadi, to detikBali on Tuesday (26 May 2026).

Brata explained that the suspect designation followed a series of investigative steps, including victim and witness testimonies, case review, and escalation to formal investigation.

“The investigators named the perpetrator as a suspect based on two valid pieces of evidence,” he added.

According to Brata, the robbery began when AK invited Rianah to meet at a bridge in Ranggagata Village, Praya Barat Daya Subdistrict, to settle a debt of Rp 17 million. Rianah then met AK at the agreed location.

At the agreed location, the two argued. AK then strangled the victim, causing scratches on her neck and hands, and seized her 35-gram gold jewellery.

After committing the act, AK fled immediately, leaving Rianah in hysterics. Brata stated that AK intended to sell the stolen gold in Bali.

“However, the suspect was apprehended at Lembar Port by the Operational Team of the Criminal Investigation Unit before he could leave,” Brata said.

AK is currently detained at the Central Lombok Police detention centre. He faces charges under Section 479(2) of the Indonesian Criminal Code for aggravated theft, with a potential prison sentence of up to 12 years.
