Logo and Identity for Indonesia's 81st Independence Day Launched, Embracing Unity in Diversity
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has officially launched the logo and visual identity for the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2026. The work of Fajar Novario was selected as the official identity for the 81st Independence Day commemoration, carrying the philosophy of unity in diversity as the foundation of the people’s sovereignty.
Deputy Minister of State Secretary (Wamensesneg) Juri Ardiantoro congratulated Fajar Novario on the selection of his work as the official logo. “Congratulations to Mr Fajar Novario, your work has been designated as the logo for the 81st Independence Day commemoration in 2026. Visually, this logo appears firm, yet it also possesses a strong philosophy,” Juri said during the launch at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (29/6).
According to Juri, the logo design was born from an exploration of the diversity of traditional motifs from various regions across the Nusantara. Beneath this diversity lies a common pattern that symbolises national unity. “The design originates from an exploration of the diverse traditional motifs of various regions in the Nusantara. Within that diversity, there is a common pattern symbolising that diversity is the foundation of the people’s sovereignty to realise an Indonesia that is sovereign, just, and prosperous,” Juri stated.
Juri also expressed appreciation to all members of the public who participated in the logo selection process. He also thanked the Ministry of Creative Economy and all its staff, as well as the Indonesian Graphic Designers Association (ADGI), for facilitating the logo design competition from the outset.
As a form of appreciation for public participation, the organising committee also gave awards to 300 lucky voters. A total of 100 people received invitations to attend the Proclamation Seconds Commemoration Ceremony at the Merdeka Palace, 100 people received special 81st Independence Day souvenirs, and another 100 people received educational fund assistance amounting to Rp 8.1 million per person. The nominal amount was chosen to symbolise the 81st Independence Day commemoration. Juri explained that the list of 300 winners can be viewed on the official website logohutri.istanapresiden.go.id.
The committee will contact the winners to convey the prize handover mechanism. He reminded the public to be cautious of potential fraud, as the entire prize distribution process is free of charge and the committee will only contact winners through the official numbers listed on the website. Juri invited all elements of society to jointly enliven the 81st Independence Day commemoration by using the official theme and logo across various media and participating in various independence celebration activities. “Fly the Red and White at home, at school, at the office, and in other public spaces. Enliven every competition, art performance, various cleanliness competitions, and in essence, celebrate the 81st Independence Day to remember all the services of our heroes who fought to liberate this nation,” Juri said.
