Logistics Often Overlooked as Key Factor During Homecoming Travel
JAKARTA — Preparation for Lebaran homecoming travel is typically associated with ensuring vehicles are in prime condition and drivers are in good health. However, there is another equally important matter that deserves attention before undertaking long-distance journeys: logistics readiness during travel.
This is significant because homecoming journeys are often characterised by extended traffic congestion, particularly on major routes leading to hometowns.
Jusri Pulubuhu, founder of Jakarta Defensive Driving Consulting, stated that travellers need to prepare various basic necessities before departure, particularly those related to logistics during the journey.
“When undertaking a journey like homecoming travel, what needs to be prepared is logistics. Because traffic congestion can occur and that becomes a possibility that travellers must anticipate,” Jusri told Kompas.com this week.
According to Jusri, the availability of simple logistics such as drinking water and light snacks can help maintain physical fitness during lengthy journeys. Particularly when facing unpredictable traffic delays.
“One can also prepare light snacks such as chocolate or crackers. Such items should ideally be provided in advance, especially if travellers find themselves in the middle of congestion occurring close to breaking fast time,” he said.
In this way, travellers need not worry about running out of fuel when stuck in congestion or when located far from fuel stations.
For this reason, in addition to checking vehicle condition and driver readiness, travellers are also advised to prepare adequate logistics to ensure journeys remain safe, comfortable, and more manageable.
