Logistics Firm Prepares for Overload by Adding Staff
A logistics company predicts that delivery workload will overload ahead of Lebaran as package volumes surge. To mitigate the risk of delays, the company says it has prepared since the start of Ramadan and increased the number of couriers and truck fleets.
SiCepat Ekspres CEO Barry Lim said that peak demand for deliveries typically occurs ahead of Lebaran, so the company needs to ramp up capacity faster. Barry emphasised that the anticipatory measures were planned long in advance.
“Yes, we have been prepared from the start,” he said in Jakarta yesterday.
According to him, preparations are being made by leveraging experience from handling year-end shopping peaks such as 11.11 and 12.12, which are not far from the Lebaran period.
“In fact, the window is not that far, so facilities and everything have already been prepared,” he added.
In addition to facilities, Barry said SiCepat is strengthening field resources.
“Certainly, the number of couriers has been estimated and increased. The number of trucks has also been increased; everything has been prepared from the outset,” he said.
Beyond preparing for the Lebaran peak, Barry said SiCepat is entering a phase of business transformation, guiding the company’s strategy through expansion of the B2B segment, strengthening its retail network, and expanding international delivery services.
In more than a decade, SiCepat has grown into one of Indonesia’s leading logistics players in the e-commerce and social commerce segments.
Barry said the transformation focuses on strengthening the company’s fundamentals and accelerating more sustainable growth.
“We are undertaking a business transformation to be more adaptable to industry dynamics. Through expansion of the B2B segment, retail optimisation, and development of international services, we want to deliver logistics solutions that are increasingly relevant and competitive,” Barry said.
For the B2B segment, he continued, SiCepat is strengthening its business lines through logistics services that handle supply chain needs and distribution up to custom logistics. This move is aimed at capturing growth opportunities in manufacturing, FMCG, retail chains, and other industries requiring large-scale distribution and customised logistics processes.
In addition, SiCepat is optimising its retail delivery services for both online and offline channels. In online retail channels, the company says it already provides the SiCepat Apps and SiCepat Dashboard for C2C and B2C deliveries.
Meanwhile, the offline retail network is being expanded through sales partners and drop points with coverage across Indonesia in Q2 this year.
On the international front, SiCepat also stated it is expanding cross-border services targeted to begin operations in Q2 this year, as international shipping needs rise.
In terms of performance, the company targets a 25% revenue rise this year, after a 16% increase in 2025.
