Jakarta – Indonesia’s Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has expressed concern over continued non-compliance among logistics entrepreneurs who continue to operate three-axle or larger trucks during the freight transport operational restriction period that began on 13 March 2026.

Purwagandhi stated that violations of the restriction policy are contributing to increased vehicle congestion and queues at several key transportation hubs, including Gilimanuk Port, which serves ferries to Ketapang Port.

“This non-compliance has resulted in increased vehicle queues at several strategic points, including at ferry ports,” said Purwagandhi in a statement on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

The Transport Ministry has established the operational restriction policy through a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) on Traffic and Ferry Regulations during the 2026 Lebaran Transport Period, issued jointly by the Transport Ministry, the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Ministry of Public Works.

The decree clearly regulates the operational restriction of freight transport vehicles with three axles or more during the period of 13–29 March 2026 to maintain smooth traffic flow during the mudik season and ensure road user safety.

“Therefore, the operation of large trucks outside these provisions constitutes non-compliance with the nationally established government policy,” he stated.

The Transport Minister said the operational restriction policy for freight transport has been established by the government to maintain smooth public mobility ahead of the Lebaran transport period and to ensure road safety and traffic order.

However, the continued operation of logistics vehicles outside the regulatory requirements risks worsening congestion and increasing safety risks on roads and at port facilities.

Transport Minister Dudy emphasised the government’s full commitment to ensuring safe and comfortable transport services during the Lebaran mudik season. This aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive that all ministries and agencies provide the best possible services to the public during the mudik period.

“The President has reminded all government officials to ensure that people can undertake their mudik journey safely, comfortably, and smoothly. Therefore, all parties must cooperate and comply with the established regulations,” said the Transport Minister.

The government, through the Transport Ministry and related authorities, will continue to strengthen oversight and enforce compliance against vehicles violating the freight transport operational restrictions.
