Logistics Drivers Await Clarity on ODOL Regulations
Logistics drivers are awaiting certainty on Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) regulations, which remain in the discussion phase. This regulation is deemed essential to provide legal certainty, transportation safety, and the sustainability of the national logistics sector.
General Chairman of the Asosiasi Rumah Berdaya Pengemudi Indonesia (RBPI), Ika Rostianti, stated that her organisation has conducted consolidations with driver communities in various regions such as Medan, Riau, Palembang, Jakarta, East Java, and Sulawesi. This consolidation aims to unify the aspirations of drivers who play a role in distributing goods and meeting public needs.
“We understand the importance of regulating ODOL for national transportation safety and order. However, to this day, many drivers still feel they are operating without certainty,” said Ika in her statement on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
RBPI assesses that accelerating the preparation of ODOL regulations is necessary so that drivers do not face prolonged uncertainty, particularly ahead of the planned Zero ODOL implementation in January 2027.
On the other hand, RBPI also notes the hope for equal treatment among transportation sectors in conveying policy aspirations. Logistics drivers consider it important to have balanced dialogue spaces so that every policy can consider the conditions of all actors in the field.
“We see that ride-hailing friends often get dialogue spaces and attention when conveying aspirations. We are certainly happy if transport workers are considered by the government. However, at the same time, logistics drivers also hope to be treated equally because we too have a significant contribution to the national economy,” said Ika.
RBPI emphasises that logistics drivers have an important role in maintaining the smooth distribution of national goods, despite facing daily operational challenges such as travel risks and cost pressures.
“When public needs remain available and distribution runs smoothly, behind that there are thousands of drivers working day and night. Therefore, we hope the government can be more present, listen to real field conditions, and involve driver communities in formulating solutions,” she continued.
RBPI also invites drivers in various regions to maintain solidarity and prioritise orderly conveyance of aspirations.
“Do not let fellow drivers be divided by circumstances. We all face the same problems and have the same hopes, namely to work calmly, be appreciated, and have certainty for our family’s future. Unity is the main strength of logistics drivers,” she said.
