The transformation towards more environmentally friendly operations is increasingly becoming a necessity for the business world. Amid growing attention to climate change issues and energy efficiency, companies are beginning to integrate decarbonisation strategies into their business models as part of efforts to create sustainable growth. The logistics and distribution industry is one sector experiencing significant change. The use of low-emission vehicles, supply chain optimisation, and the application of more efficient technology are now part of corporate strategies to reduce carbon footprints while increasing operational productivity. PT Medela Potentia Tbk (MDLA), through its subsidiary PT Anugrah Argon Medica (AAM), is taking such steps by launching its first electric car fleet as part of the company’s operational decarbonisation programme. This initiative marks the strengthening of the company’s distribution strategy, which focuses not only on logistics efficiency but also on emission reduction and the development of a more sustainable operational system. PT Medela Potentia Tbk President Director Juliwaty said the move is part of the company’s long-term transformation in building a more adaptive and efficient distribution system. ‘The use of electric vehicles not only improves operational efficiency but also strengthens our readiness to deliver fast, precise, and safe distribution services amidst the dynamics of market needs. This is part of our effort to integrate innovation thoroughly into operations,’ she stated. According to the company, operational decarbonisation is a response to the changing landscape of the distribution industry, which increasingly demands energy efficiency, better cost management, and the integration of sustainability principles into daily business activities. Before launching the electric car fleet, AAM had already operated 106 electric motorbikes spread across 15 branches in 13 cities up to 2025. The development of four-wheeled electric vehicles is a subsequent phase to strengthen a more energy-efficient distribution system while expanding the company’s contribution to reducing operational emissions. Beyond using electric vehicles, the company is also strengthening various supporting aspects such as distribution route optimisation, operational infrastructure improvement, and human resource competency development. All these measures are designed as an integrated system aimed at increasing efficiency without reducing service quality for customers. As part of its sustainability strategy, the company also implements Eco-Driving training for drivers and operational teams to improve workplace safety, energy efficiency, and consistency in carrying out more responsible distribution practices. PT AAM Director Budi Lim said the company seeks to maintain a balance between business growth and environmental responsibility. ‘Going forward, we will continue to develop operational innovations that not only boost business performance but also provide a real contribution to environmental sustainability,’ he said. HR & Sustainability Director of PT Medela Potentia Tbk, Nancy Kartika, affirmed that the steps taken by AAM are part of the company’s strategy to integrate sustainability principles across all lines of business. By 2025, PT Medela Potentia Tbk and its subsidiaries reportedly succeeded in reducing greenhouse gas emission intensity by 20 per cent compared to the previously established baseline. The company plans to expand the implementation of its decarbonisation programme as part of strengthening a more efficient, adaptive, and sustainable distribution system.
