The planned Rp20 trillion investment to be injected by the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara) into the broiler and layer poultry sectors has come under scrutiny from Logis 08, a volunteer group supporting Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The General Chairman of Logis 08, Anshar Ilo, has requested that Danantara refrain from rushing the realisation of this massive investment until the national poultry ecosystem is truly prepared. He noted that while the programme to strengthen the poultry sector is vital for supporting food security and the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, its implementation must be mature and measurable.

“This programme is very good and strategic as it can strengthen the chicken and egg supply chain to support the Free Nutritious Meal Programme. However, we ask Danantara to delay this investment if the entire business ecosystem is not yet ready. We must ensure that large funds do not instead lead to the risk of failure,” Anshar Ilo stated in a media release on Monday (18/5/2026).

Anshar assessed that the poultry sector involves complex operational standards and requires comprehensive readiness, ranging from production facilities to human resources. He warned that large-scale investment without an ecosystem in place would only result in inefficiency and budgetary waste.

According to him, the readiness of modern housing, feed quality, the quality of day-old chicks (DOC), cultivation technology, and distribution systems must be ensured before the project is executed on a large scale. He emphasised that poultry farming requires high standards, including specific housing specifications, adequate technology, and high-quality seeds and feed.

“If these elements are not maximised, then the Rp20 trillion investment has the potential to be ineffective,” he said.

The former Vice Chairman of the DPP KNPI also highlighted the role of PT Berdikari, which he believes should be at the forefront of maintaining national protein availability and price stability. While fully supporting the increase in national chicken and egg production, Anshar expressed doubts regarding operational readiness and execution capacity if the investment project is forced forward without mature planning stages.
