Volunteers from the Logis 08 victory team have criticised Danantara, stating that one of the fundamental issues hindering the agency’s effectiveness is the prevalence of officials holding multiple positions in other institutions. Anshar Ilo remarked that this situation has the potential to disrupt work focus and slow down strategic decision-making that should drive national economic growth. “Danantara was established with the hope of becoming the engine of national investment, capable of managing state assets professionally and productively. However, to date, its contribution to the national economy has not been significantly visible,” said Anshar Ilo on Wednesday (13/05). According to him, holding multiple positions creates serious problems, from limited time and attention of officials to potential conflicts of interest in policy-making processes. For instance, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani serves as CEO of Danantara while also holding the position of Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM (later Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM). Furthermore, Dony Oskaria serves as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara and also as Deputy Minister of SOEs, while Pandu Patria Sjahrir serves as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Danantara but is known to remain active in various private companies and investment entities. “If decision-makers are still preoccupied with tasks in other institutions, it will certainly be difficult for Danantara to operate at full capacity. An institution of this magnitude requires figures who are fully focused and have total commitment,” he emphasised. Anshar also assessed that Danantara should serve as a strategic instrument to optimise state assets and direct investments to productive sectors that directly impact job creation, strengthening the national industry, and improving public welfare. He urged the government to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of Danantara’s organisational structure, including reorganising the leadership composition to be filled by professionals who can work independently and full-time. “The government needs to ensure that Danantara is managed professionally, transparently, and free from conflicts of interest. In that way, this institution can move faster and provide real contributions to national economic development,” he concluded.
