Logawa train delayed by 65 minutes due to locomotive malfunction
Jember, East Java – The Logawa train on the Purwokerto-Ketapang route experienced a delay of over an hour at several stations due to a locomotive malfunction, resulting in an unscheduled stop at KM 100+1/2 in Probolinggo Regency, East Java, on Monday afternoon.
“We apologise to all passengers of KA 249C Logawa on the Purwokerto-Ketapang route for the travel delay caused by the locomotive malfunction,” said Cahyo Widiantoro, Head of Legal and Public Relations at KAI Daop 9 Jember, in Jember on Monday.
According to him, at 16:48 WIB, the Logawa train experienced a locomotive engine system malfunction while passing through the Bayeman (BYM) to Probolinggo (PB) section.
“As a result of the malfunction, the Logawa train made an unscheduled stop at KM 100+1/2 for locomotive inspection,” he said.
In response, the operational team promptly conducted a locomotive inspection.
As a safety measure, the train resumed its journey using a rescue locomotive, allowing operations to normalise while prioritising operational safety.
“The malfunction caused a 65-minute delay upon arrival at Probolinggo Station,” he said.
He apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the incident, which resulted in delays at multiple stations.
PT KAI Daop 9 Jember extended its sincerest apologies to all Logawa train passengers for the travel delays caused by the locomotive malfunction.
“Safety of rail travel remains our top priority in all operational incident management,” Cahyo said.
As part of their responsibility and apology to passengers, Logawa train passengers were provided with Service Recovery measures in accordance with applicable regulations.
Cahyo stated that KAI remains committed to maintaining reliable infrastructure and improving passenger services to ensure safe, secure, and comfortable rail travel.
“Our primary focus is ensuring rail travel safety while delivering the best possible service to passengers,” he said.
All staff responded swiftly to resolve the issue and restore normal operations while ensuring optimal service for customers.
