Locomotive Disruption at Senen Station, Six Long-Distance Trains Delayed
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 1 Jakarta apologised for the operational disruption. As a result, several long-distance trains scheduled to depart from Pasar Senen were delayed. In addition, a number of trains arriving at Pasar Senen were temporarily held at Jatinegara while operations returned to normal. KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager Franoto Wibowo said staff were still handling the incident on site and that KAI was working to speed up the response to restore long-distance services to normal as soon as possible. ‘KAI Daop 1 Jakarta apologises for the inconvenience to customers caused by this operational disruption. We are continuing to accelerate normalisation of operations and adjust service patterns to minimise the impact on customers,’ Franoto said in a statement on Friday, 22 May 2026. KAI said six long-distance services were affected. The affected services include: 1. KA 284 Serayu Pagi, Pasarsenen–Kiaracondong, scheduled to depart 09:30 WIB, estimated departure 13:30 WIB. 2. KA 272 Airlangga, Pasarsenen–Surabaya Pasarturi, scheduled to depart 09:15 WIB, formation located at Dipo Cipinang. 3. KA 204 Tegal Bahari, Pasarsenen–Tegal, scheduled to depart 10:20 WIB, formation located at Dipo Cipinang. 4. KA 90 Gaya Baru Malam Selatan, Pasarsenen–Surabaya Gubeng, scheduled to depart 11:10 WIB, formation located at Dipo Cipinang. 5. KA 270 Matarmaja, Pasarsenen–Malang, scheduled to depart 11:25 WIB, formation located at Dipo Cipinang. 6. KA 256B Jaka Tingkir, Pasarsenen–Solo Balapan, scheduled to depart 11:50 WIB, formation located at Pasarsenen Station. KAI Daop 1 Jakarta estimated that the handling and evacuation process would continue until around 13:30 WIB. Operational updates will be communicated periodically to customers via KAI’s official channels. Franoto also said the cause of the disruption is still being investigated, ‘the chronology and the cause are awaiting the investigation process.’ As a service to affected customers, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta is providing service recovery in accordance with applicable regulations. Station staff are on standby to assist customers, including periodic travel information updates and additional services for customers experiencing delays.
