Locked by Face ID, Phone of PPDS Doctor Who Died in Siak Dismantled at Forensic Lab

Siak Police have disclosed a number of findings related to the death of ACL (30), a doctor enrolled in the Specialist Doctor Education Programme (PPDS) and an anaesthesiology resident at Tengku Rafian Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Siak. These findings are currently being examined at the forensic laboratory (Labfor).

“Subsequently, we have submitted several pieces of evidence to the forensic laboratory for analysis,” said Siak Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Raja Kosmos in a statement to journalists on Saturday (25/7/2026).

Several pieces of evidence discovered at the crime scene have been sent to the Labfor for analysis, including medical equipment and medical drugs. “And to this day, we are still awaiting the results of that analysis,” he added.

Police are also examining the victim’s mobile phone to search for clues regarding his death. The phone was taken to the forensic lab because some applications could only be opened using Face ID. “There were also some things we could not open because they use Face ID, so we have sent it to the Labfor to unlock it,” he said.

Raja stated that the investigation is prioritising scientific crime investigation methods to obtain a complete sequence of events and the cause of the victim’s death, so that it can be legally accounted for. “We are also conducting the investigation using techniques and tactics as regulated in the new Criminal Procedure Code and existing police standard operating procedures,” he added.

As part of the ongoing investigation, Siak Police have questioned a number of witnesses, including parties from the hospital, hospital employees, and hospital staff. “We have also taken statements from the supervising doctor of the anaesthesiology residents at RSUD Tengku Rafian Siak,” he continued.

Police have also questioned the victim’s wife, YM (31), who is also a doctor, as well as several of the victim’s colleagues. “Prior to giving their testimony, we were together with the victim’s wife, parents, and brother to open the victim’s communication device that was found at the crime scene with the victim,” he explained.

The victim’s body was discovered on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, after his wife searched for his whereabouts. Since Monday (13/7) afternoon, the victim’s wife had been looking for her husband. Hospital authorities eventually checked CCTV footage around the hospital, which showed the victim walking away from the hospital. The victim was found dead in the bushes beside the hospital. The cause of death remains unknown.
