Deputy Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has stated that coordination regarding the plan to build the Indonesia International Financial Centre (PFII) on land owned by state-owned enterprises (SOEs) has not yet taken place. The statement was in response to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, who had said the PFII would utilise SOE assets.

“Not yet. Maybe it will be like that later, maybe not, we shall see. The one who will decide later is the Minister of Finance,” Purbaya said after chairing a debottlenecking meeting at the Ministry of Finance office on Thursday, 23 July 2026.

Purbaya stated that the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara) had reviewed several proposed locations, but the proposals were not yet final. “They have looked at several places, but the proposals are not yet clear. We shall see later,” he said.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto conveyed that Jakarta and Bali would be the locations for the PFII. However, Purbaya admitted that the locations had not been decided conclusively and the final decision remains with the Ministry of Finance.

The Indonesia International Financial Centre (PFII) is a special financial zone that was recently approved by the House of Representatives (DPR) through legislation at a plenary session in the DPR building on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.

The PFII is designed to attract foreign investment, deepen domestic financial markets, and enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness. The government has also prepared a number of facilities covering tax, immigration, employment, licensing, and residency ease.
