The Military District Command (Kodim) 0731/Kulon Progo in the Special Region of Yogyakarta is still coordinating with the TNI Peacekeeping Mission Centre (PMPP) regarding the schedule for repatriating the body of soldier Corporal Farizal Romadhon, who fell in Lebanon, on Sunday, 29 March 2026.

The Commander of Kodim 0731/Kulon Progo, Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Dyan Niti Sukma, stated that the TNI is currently completing administrative procedures at the TNI Headquarters level before the body is flown back to Indonesia. Dyan hopes that the bureaucratic and transportation processes will proceed smoothly so that Farizal’s body can soon arrive at the mourning house in Kulon Progo.

“We are still communicating with the TNI PMPP. We are currently in the waiting stage. Hopefully, it can arrive in the homeland the day after tomorrow,” said Dyan when met at the mourning house in Kulon Progo on Monday, 30 March 2026.

He assured that his side is fully monitoring the developments regarding the repatriation of Farizal’s body. Regarding the burial location, Dyan confirmed that the body will be brought to Kulon Progo in accordance with the wishes of the deceased’s extended family, namely in Dusun Ledok.

“Insyaallah, it will be brought here because of the family’s request. The body will still be buried here (in Kulon Progo),” Dyan stated.

Farizal was killed during a military attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) headquarters in Lebanon—where TNI soldiers are also stationed at that military base—on Sunday, 29 March 2026. In addition to Farizal, three other TNI soldiers were injured as a result of the attack. The incident occurred amid increasing escalation of armed clashes between the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) and the Hezbollah group.

This incident has left deep sorrow for Farizal’s family and neighbours in Padukuhan Ledok, Kulon Progo. Wakidi, who is also the head of Ledok hamlet, recalled the late soldier as a good young man who was active in social activities even after becoming a TNI soldier and being assigned outside Yogyakarta.

“From childhood until graduating high school, he was here. He was active in the youth organisation and always supported youth activities in the village,” said Wakidi. He last met the deceased during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah or Lebaran 2026.

Wakidi said that Farizal’s family wants the late soldier to be buried at the local public cemetery. “The Kodim side asked earlier, whether at the Heroes’ Cemetery or the public cemetery. I have spoken with the family, they requested just the public cemetery, in Nambangan Ledok,” said Wakidi.

As of now, the deceased’s wife and their three-year-old child are reported to still be in Aceh, where Corporal Farizal was previously stationed. Neither the Kodim nor the village officials have received confirmation on when the child and wife will arrive in Kulon Progo.
