Locals demand indigenous officials

GORONTALO, Gorontalo: A leading figure in Boalemo has
called on the regental government to prioritize locals in the
recruitment of civil servants in the regency. Rahman Ismail said
that so far, the Boalemo bureaucracy had been dominated by people
from outside the regency and this was considered unfair.

Responding to the demand, secretary of Boalemo regency Nico
Ahbi said that whether the locals were given priority in the
bureaucracy recruitment, it was up to the central government. "We
can't do anything. All we can do is make sure there is no
discrimination in the process of recruiting local bureaucrats,"
