The increasingly open competition in the job market means higher education institutions must not only keep pace with global developments but also remain relevant to local needs and contexts. This balance is increasingly adopted by management education institutions. One approach is to combine international standards with an understanding of social and cultural conditions, as well as domestic industry needs. This is considered essential so that graduates remain globally competitive without losing the ability to understand challenges in their local environments.

PPM School of Management is one of the institutions placing this balance at the centre of its education development strategy. The campus has again received international accreditation from ABEST21 International for its Master of Management programme. This achievement marks the third time after prior recognitions in 2016 and 2021. The accreditation certificate was presented during international events held at the Kyoto International Conference Center, Japan.

Chair of PPM School, Dr Wendra, stated that strengthening education quality is not only achieved by meeting international standards but also ensuring the learning process remains relevant to Indonesia’s conditions. “The success of maintaining international accreditation demonstrates the institution’s consistency in upholding educational quality based on a range of global assessment indicators, while also paying attention to local context,” he said, quoted on Thursday 21 May 2026.

In addition to maintaining academic quality standards, the development of a curriculum based on local wisdom has become one of the ongoing steps. The approach runs alongside increased international collaboration, the development of educational infrastructure, and strengthening links between academia and industry.

In ABEST21 International Symposium agenda, with the theme of developing human resources and competitive education in the Global South, Dr Wendra also emphasised the importance of building transformative leadership amidst the increasingly dynamic world of education. He believes that the future of management education requires a balance between the ability to compete globally and understanding local needs.
