Local TV stations come up trumps for Idul Fitri

JAKARTA (JP): To welcome Lebaran this Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, the
nation's six television stations are offering a variety of
programs for TV audiences around the country.

The state-owned TVRI as well as TPI, RCTI, SCTV, ANteve, and
Indosiar, will present their best lineups of shows with social
and religious themes for those spending the holidays at home with
family.

TVRI will present its special Lebaran show Operetta Papiko,
led by veteran artist Titik Puspa, on Feb. 20 at 10:30 a.m.

The operetta features such popular artists as Koes Hendratmo,
Eny Haryono, Nia Daniati, Harry Mukti, Dewi Yull and Lenong Bocah
group.

TPI will offer traditional music and dangdut programs in
addition to comedies and operettas.

TPI's Dangdut Show will be aired three successive days
starting tomorrow at 9.30 p.m. The show will be highlighted by a
top dangdut artists Ike Nurianah, Itje Tresnawati and others.

The station will also broadcast Teatra Tangga's renditions of
the operettas Kearifan (Wisdom) and Penjual Kacang (the Peanut
Seller) on Feb. 19 at midnight.

The station, in cooperation with Gloria Productions, will also
air a 90-minute cabaret with top artists Neno Warisman, Dessy
Ratnasari, Kris Dayanti, Andi Meriem Matalata and Betharia
Sonata.

Comedy lovers should tune into RCTI on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21 for
its two major comedies: Basho by the Bagito group and Ketupat
Internet by the popular Padhayangan group from Bandung.

ANteve will also keep up with the laughter with Lenong
Musikal, a traditional Betawi (indigenous Jakartan) drama. The
musical, on Feb. 20 at 9:30 p.m., is an adaptation of William
Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet called Rojali dan Juleha,
featuring Harry de Fretes and his group.

SCTV will present a Lebaran program of traditional arts like
Jidor and Hadrah from Lamongan and also contemporary dance and
poetry. Lebaran Ya Lebaran, directed by Troy Pantouw, will be on
Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m and Feb. 20 at 5:30. Dance choreographer
Denny Malik and rock singers Mel Shandy and Oppie Andaresta will
make appearances, while Taufik Ismail will read poetry.

Indonesia's newest TV station Indosiar will offer a range of
classical orchestra, operetta, comedy and dangdut music between
Feb. 19 and Feb.23.

Indosiar will start with Gema Takbir, presented by the
Association of Islamic Artists. Mixing Islamic and modern music,
Heidy Junus, Jayanti Mandasari will perform on the show.

On Feb.20 the station will air Simponi Lebaran featuring the
popular Twilight Orchestra and conductor Addie M.S. Playing in
the Simponi will be Elfa's Singer, KLA project and Ita
Purnamasari.

The station will also screen a dangdut program called Salam
Dangdut Lebaran, the Gelak Lebaran comedy show and other programs
in honor of Idul Fitri. (raw)
