Local Trains in Bandung Raya and Garut Record Passenger Growth in Q1 2026
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has recorded growth in the number of local train passengers in the first quarter of 2026.
The Bandung Raya local train served 2.8 million customers. This figure rose 16.6 per cent compared to the same period in 2025, which had 2.4 million customers.
The Garut local train, serving the Purwakarta-Garut return route, also recorded an increase.
The number of passengers reached 778,837 customers. This figure is up 11.6 per cent from 697,612 customers in the same period last year.
Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that local trains are an important part of the daily activities of the community.
“On this route, the train serves as a connector that keeps community activities moving. Local train services have become an integral part of people’s daily lives,” said Anne in an official statement on Thursday (16/4/2026).
This route connects residential areas, educational centres, and business districts in Bandung Raya.
The journey from Cicalengka passes through Haurpugur and Rancaekek. This area is known to be close to educational and industrial zones.
The train then stops at Cimekar and Gedebage. This area is developing as a new activity hub in eastern Bandung.
Entering the city centre, the train serves Kiaracondong and Cikudapateuh stations. Both stations are key points for workers.
Bandung Station serves as the main mobility hub. This station connects local and long-distance journeys.
The journey continues westward through Ciroyom Station. This area is near the trading centre.
The train then serves Cimindi and Cimahi. This area includes residential and educational centres.
The journey ends at Padalarang as the western terminus. This route connects Bandung with West Bandung Regency.
