Local players progress easily at Governor Cup

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's Southeast Asian (SEA) Games tennis players had no trouble in the second round of the Governor Cup Tennis Women's Satellite tournament yesterday.

Wukirasih Sawondari, who has already upset second seeded Weng Tzu Ting of Chinese Taipei, beat Australia's Moulds Kylie 6-4, 6- 3.

She now meets compatriot Wynne Prakusya, who beat Fed Cup player Mimma Chernovita 2-6, 6-0, 7-5.

"I will play all out in the next round," she said.

Former Fed Cup player Liza Andriyani also went through to the third round after beating Japan's Gunji Akiko 7-6 (8-6), 6-3.

But Agustine Limanto was knocked out by Japan's Keiko Ishida 1-6, 0-6.

In the women's doubles, top seeded Japanese Yamagishi/Hotta beat Nikitina/Dittman (Uzbekhistan/Australia) 6-1, 6-1.

In the men's tournament, Indonesian top seed Sebastian da Costa cruised into the next round by beating Haryadi Lesmana 6-3, 6-2.

Novi Hendri of West Sumatra beat Jakartan Yudi Hartono 6-4, 6- 4. Another Jakartan, Mario Ronaldo, worked hard to beat Central Java's Yusmawan Fahmi 6-3, 1-6, 7-5.

Veteran Justedjo Tarik lost to old hand Suhendar Dinata 0-6, 1-6. (yan)
