A number of district and municipal chairs of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) in West Java are urging KADIN Indonesia, particularly Chairman Anindya Bakrie, to immediately resolve the dualism in the West Java leadership which remains deadlocked. The demand surfaced during a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) held by the Forum Jurnalis Ekonomi Indonesia (FJE Indonesia) themed ‘Chatting Together’ at the Horison Hotel in Bandung on Tuesday. The event was attended by economic journalists and 16 KADIN chairs from across West Java. Business players within West Java KADIN argue that the prolonged conflict is not only disrupting the organisation’s operations but also impacting the investment climate and efforts to drive regional economic growth. The Chairman of KADIN Garut Regency, Rajab Priyadi, stated that all regional administrators hope the problem can be resolved soon through fair measures acceptable to all parties. ‘We, from the 16 KADIN districts and cities in West Java, request that this conflict be resolved immediately in the best possible way for the sake of the organisation and the business world,’ he said. According to Rajab, direct mediation from the Chairman of KADIN Indonesia is the most appropriate step to end the persistent dispute. If necessary, he proposed that the West Java KADIN provincial conference (Musprov) be reconvened to produce a leadership accepted by all. He added that the most tangible impact of the conflict is the decline in public trust in Indonesia’s largest business organisation. This condition has also caused a number of work programmes to stall. ‘KADIN is a platform for entrepreneurs that assists the government in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and strengthening the business world. When a prolonged conflict occurs, many programmes are stalled,’ he said. Rajab also hopes that the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, can help find a solution if KADIN Indonesia’s settlement efforts do not bear fruit. He noted Dedi is known for his ability to resolve various problems in the region. The Chairman of KADIN Karawang, Aris Susanto, also expressed his concern. He believes the existence of two leaderships makes the organisation’s movement and economic programmes suboptimal. ‘We are very concerned because the dualism of leadership means the organisation’s programmes are not running optimally,’ he said. Similar views were echoed by KADIN administrators from Bogor City and Regency, Sukabumi, and Indramayu, who wish for clarity over leadership so the organisation can function effectively again. The regional KADIN administrators also hope KADIN Indonesia can impose a status quo on the West Java KADIN board until an acceptable resolution is reached. Currently, the West Java KADIN leadership dualism is being processed through legal channels at the South Jakarta and Bandung District Courts. The conflict involves two factions, namely Nizar Sungkar and Almer Faiq Rusydi. The dispute originated from differing claims over the outcome of the organisational process at the end of 2025. Almer Faiq Rusydi was said to have been elected through the Musprov in Bogor and was inaugurated by KADIN Indonesia for the 2025–2030 term. However, that board was subsequently sued by the Nizar Sungkar faction, which claims election through the Musprov in Bandung. The issue has now escalated to the courts. Nizar Sungkar filed a civil lawsuit worth Rp20 billion at the Bandung District Court regarding the ratification of the West Java KADIN board. Additionally, regional administrators represented by KADIN Garut and Indramayu have also filed a lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court.
