Samosir Regent Vandiko Gultom has called upon all regional heads in the Lake Toba area, particularly Toba Regency, to strengthen cooperation in developing the tourism sector whilst protecting and preserving the natural resources bestowed by God.

“Let us support one another and remain united for the advancement of Lake Toba tourism on the world stage,” said Vandiko in a statement on Sunday (15 March).

He noted that the relationship between Toba and Samosir Regencies possesses strong emotional bonds rooted in shared culture, customs, language, and community social life.

According to him, as the region that gave rise to Samosir Regency, Toba Regency maintains inseparable historical ties with Samosir’s development. “We must continue to nurture this relationship. Toba and Samosir Regencies must rise together and join hands for regional advancement,” he said.

He expressed hope that the region, which served as the parent regency for Samosir’s formation, would continue to develop and improve public welfare.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that the government is providing income tax (PIT Article 21) stimulus to the tourism sector, with the government bearing the costs. The Minister of Tourism explained that domestic tourist travel in the second quarter of 2025 reached 331.37 million trips, representing a 22.32 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
