Local Government Encourages Community Participation in Waste Sorting Process
The Kepulauan Seribu Regency Government is encouraging the community to embrace the process of waste sorting and management, while simultaneously reaping the benefits of its results, particularly in areas serving as tourist destinations.
“The Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu) are synonymous with tourism, and tourism is synonymous with cleanliness. The Thousand Islands provides a tagline: ‘Enjoy Waste Management’,” said the Head of the Kepulauan Seribu Environmental Sub-Department, Achmad Hariadi, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
To this end, the authorities continue to invite the public to increase their awareness regarding cleanliness and waste management within their environments.
According to Achmad, waste sorting and management are integral parts of the efforts to support sustainable tourism in the Thousand Islands. He noted that the archipelago is a vital part of Jakarta’s tourism future; therefore, sound environmental management must be a shared priority, especially amidst increasing tourism activities.
