Local Government: Construction of 12 Temporary Shelters in West Aceh Nearly Complete
Meulaboh (ANTARA) - The West Aceh district government in Aceh Province has confirmed that construction of 12 temporary shelters for flash flood victims in Pante Ceureumen sub-district, carried out by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), is nearly complete.
“The temporary shelters could be occupied as early as next week,” said West Aceh Regent Tarmizi, accompanied by Deputy Regent Said Fadheil and Acting District Secretary Kurdi, in Meulaboh on Monday.
He stated that he and a number of relevant officials had already conducted an inspection of the shelter construction site in the area to ensure that the construction phases continued to progress.
He explained that only 12 temporary shelter units were being built in West Aceh district because the number of homes damaged by the flash floods on 25 November 2025 was relatively small.
Regent Tarmizi has set a target for flood victims in the area to move into the temporary shelters during the holy month of Ramadan, so that by Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, residents would no longer be living in evacuation tents.
The West Aceh district government also confirmed that natural disaster victims would continue to receive living allowances from the government, including aid provisions once they have moved into the temporary shelters.
