Local Electronics Entrepreneurs Cry Foul Over Imported Products Using This Method

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Industry players in the electronics sector believe the growth of digital platforms has brought new challenges for domestic producers. Imported products can now be sold directly to consumers without passing through the distribution chains long used by local businesses.

Deny Irawan, Chairman of the Electronic Commodities Entrepreneurs Association (Apkonik), said the issue is closely linked to the increasing flood of imported goods into Indonesia. According to him, this has made price competition increasingly difficult to avoid.

“When these imports come in enormous volumes with no limits on the cycle, going straight from producer to buyer, the cycle effectively disappears,” Deny said on Monday (27 July 2026).

This situation means domestic industry players must work harder to stay competitive. Besides facing cheaper prices, local producers still have to bear production costs and comply with various applicable regulations.

“These imported products also go straight onto digital platforms, so domestic businesses and domestic industry are experiencing difficulties,” he said.

Deny hopes the government will take steps to create more balanced competition on digital platforms. According to him, collaboration between the government and businesses is key to keeping the electronics industry growing.

“We need collaboration, perhaps from the government again, to anticipate this situation,” Deny said.
