A viral video showing two motorcycle riders sustaining head and facial injuries on Pasirluyu Road, Regol District, Bandung has sparked widespread concern on social media. The victims are believed to have been attacked by loan sharks (mata elang) or debt collectors.

In a social media post by Police Commissioner Manang Soebeti (@manangsoebeti_official), one victim identified as AA, aged 44, was shown lying on the roadside visibly in pain whilst holding his head. The victim told residents who assisted him that he had been attacked by loan sharks.

A second victim was similarly seen wincing in pain whilst leaning against a shop, with blood streaming from head and facial wounds. Both victims were heard shouting at the assailants, calling them thieves, before they fled the scene.

According to gathered information, the victims were travelling along Pasirluyu Road when they were allegedly ambushed by the loan shark gang. A confrontation ensued between the victims and the suspected perpetrators, escalating when the attackers struck the victims with what is believed to be a metal implement. Police Commissioner Manang subsequently called for the attention and intervention of Bandung Police Headquarters and the Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Regol District Police Chief Kompol Heri Suryadi confirmed the incident occurred. He stated the alleged attack on the motorcycle riders took place on Sunday, 8 March 2026 at approximately 17:15 Western Indonesian Time. “Confirmed, the incident occurred yesterday, Sunday on the 8th at 17:15 WIB,” said Heri when contacted on Wednesday, 11 February 2026.

He indicated that the matter had been followed up by police authorities. The perpetrators are currently being sought by law enforcement. “It has been followed up and the perpetrators are being pursued,” he stated.
