Lo Kheng Hong Acquires 19.9 Million Shares of Salim Group's Palm Oil Issuer (SIMP)
The shareholding of veteran investor Lo Kheng Hong in the palm oil plantation company PT Salim Ivomas Pratama Tbk (SIMP) has surged above 5% following a recent large-scale purchase. According to information disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on Monday (1/6/2026), Lo Kheng Hong reported the purchase of 19.9 million shares of SIMP on 18 May 2026. The transaction was executed at a price of Rp600 per share.
Through this move, Lo Kheng Hong spent approximately Rp11.94 billion to execute the transaction. The purpose of the share purchase was stated purely to expand his investment portfolio. Prior to this transaction, the investor, often referred to as ‘Pak Lo’, held 773.44 million units of SIMP shares, representing a 4.98% voting right.
Following the completion of the purchase, his holdings increased to 793.34 million units, raising his voting rights to 5.11%. This increase necessitates his name being recorded in the mandatory disclosure for shareholders holding more than 5%.
Lo Kheng Hong previously shared his rationale for selecting SIMP as a major portfolio component with a stake exceeding 5%. Known as the ‘Indonesian Warren Buffett’, he explained that Salim Ivomas manages 241,046 hectares of palm oil plantations, alongside 16,235 hectares of rubber, 13,878 hectares of sugarcane, and 16,859 hectares of commodities including cocoa and tea. Consequently, he estimates the company’s total plantation land reaches 288,018 hectares, with an estimated value of US$2.88 billion. He noted that if one hectare is valued at US$10,000, the total land value reaches approximately Rp46.9 trillion, excluding the value of brands like Bimoli cooking oil and Palmia margarine.
This mid-May 2026 buying spree is particularly noteworthy as it reverses his previous position, where he had conducted his first major sell-off the previous month. Records show that Pak Lo sold 8.18 million shares of SIMP in two transactions on 14 April 2026, at prices of Rp925 and Rp920 per share, netting approximately Rp7.54 billion. That sale had reduced his stake from 5.03% to 4.97%.
By capitalising on the price dip to the Rp600 level during the 18 May 2026 transaction, Lo Kheng Hong has re-established his position in the CPO issuer owned by Anthoni Salim. As of the close of trading on Friday (29/5), SIMP shares were trading at Rp555, reflecting a 2.63% decline year-to-date and a 31.90% decline over the past month.
