The Higher Education Service Institute (LLDIKTI) for Region III held a Public Relations and Protocol Coordination Meeting at the Syafri Guricci Hall, 5th Floor, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (FKK UMJ). The event, which took place from 17 to 18 June 2026, was attended by 200 participants from every higher education institution within the LLDIKTI Region III area. This coordination meeting served as a forum to enhance the public relations and protocol capacity of universities through various sessions on sharing best practices, strengthening competencies, and the launch of a university protocol guidebook. The materials discussed included communication crisis management, sustainable reputation, strengthening excellent service, and best practices in public relations and protocol at higher education institutions. UMJ Rector Ma’mun Murod expressed appreciation for the trust placed in UMJ to host the event. He asserted that protocol is an important element reflecting the quality of an institution. ‘The face of a campus is not only seen from its facilities and infrastructure but is also reflected by its protocol officers. Therefore, every university needs to possess good protocol standards,’ he said. Ma’mun explained that UMJ has had a Student Protocol Corps (KPM) for the past five years, which has greatly assisted UMJ in major events. ‘I am confident that activities like this are very beneficial, both for campuses that already have a protocol system and those still in the development stage,’ he added. Head of LLDIKTI Region III, Henri Tambunan, stated that public relations plays a very important role in building the image and reputation of higher education institutions in society. He noted that an institution’s profile will not be known to the public if its public relations does not work well. ‘The role of public relations is very strategic. We need to continuously learn how to convey the information society needs so that universities become increasingly known and trusted,’ he said. He added that many university achievements, whether in research, community service, or innovation, have high news value and are interesting for the public to know. However, the delivery must be done simply and be easily understood by the public. ‘Through this coordination meeting, we strengthen coordination and align perceptions regarding best practices in public relations and protocol. Each institution has its own strengths that can serve as inspiration to advance together,’ he said. Henri explained that participants would receive various materials relevant to current public relations needs, ranging from communication crisis management and sustainable reputation to best practices in managing university public relations and protocol. ‘With strong collaboration and good communication, we can jointly build an increasingly positive reputation for higher education in the eyes of the public,’ he said. On this occasion, LLDIKTI Region III also released a protocol pocketbook compiled as a shared guide for conducting orderly, professional events that reflect good institutional governance. Additionally, participants received information about the Diktisaintek Public Relations Award, a national event organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The first day focused on Public Relations materials, with the opening session featuring Dinna Handini, Head of the Publication and Documentation Team at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. She presented material on communication crisis management strategies in the digital era. Subsequently, participants received material on Best Practices in Communication Crisis Management for Private Universities delivered by UMJ Head of Public Relations, Sofia Hasna, together with the Head of the Communication Reputation Department at LSPR Institute, Emilya Setyaningtyas. The activity continued with a crisis response simulation and interactive discussion, as well as a briefing on quarterly data collection and the 2026 Economic Census by the DKI Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS). In the second session, participants received material on sustainable reputation through communication direction and stakeholder engagement delivered by Doddy Zulkifli Indra Atmaja, Head of Public Relations and Protocol at the General Affairs, Procurement of Goods and Services Bureau of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The first day’s activities concluded with a Technical Briefing on the Diktisaintek Public Relations Award delivered by Maghfira Syalendri Alqadri from the Public Relations and Cooperation Working Team of LLDIKTI Region III. Meanwhile, the second day’s activities focused on strengthening the protocol capacity of universities, including the application of protocol standards and sharing best practices in protocol management within the campus environment.
