LKPP Deputy Reports Being Contacted by Numerous Officials After Speaking at Chromebook Trial
Jakarta - Expert in Goods and Services Procurement and Deputy for Law and Dispute Resolution at LKPP, Setya Budi Arijanta, admitted that he was contacted by many procurement officials who felt they had made mistakes in their procurement processes.
“To be honest, after the trial yesterday, sir, I was contacted by all parties, everyone admitted to being wrong,” said Setya during the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, on Monday (6/4/2026).
Setya spoke when asked for his opinion in the continuation of the trial in the alleged corruption case of Chromebook-based laptop procurement for the defendant, former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim.
According to Setya, many commitment-making officials (PPK) up to investigators contacted him because they felt they had made mistakes in procurement.
“If Mr Setya’s opinion is correct, then everyone will be caught, that’s what they said. Because all practices are wrong, they said. Both PPK contacting me, investigators contacting me,” he added.
This LKPP Deputy refuted it. He emphasised that there is an exception for government projects, namely in Government Regulation (PP) Number 29 of 2021 on the Implementation of Procurement.
“(There is) a provision, this is excluded for government goods and services procurement,” he added.
Setya mentioned that he had conducted education for the public, but that mindset still persists.
“But yesterday I found many cases, I’ve even made podcasts multiple times on YouTube, but it turns out it hasn’t changed. I’m concerned, there will be many exploding cases one by one, those catalogued, many OTT by KPK,” said Setya again.
In this case, former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim along with three other defendants is said to have caused state financial losses of Rp 2.1 trillion.
Nadiem is accused of enriching himself by Rp 809 billion. This figure is said to come from Google’s investment in Gojek or PT AKAB.
Nadiem is said to have abused his authority, making Google the sole controller of TIK procurement, one of which is laptops, in Indonesia’s technology ecosystem.
This was done by directing the procurement study towards one product, namely Chrome-based devices which are Google’s products.
Nadiem carried out this act together with three other defendants, namely former Technology Consultant in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Ibrahim Arief; Director of SMP in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in 2020–2021 as well as Budget User Representative (KPA), Mulyatsyah; and Director of SD in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in 2020–2021 as well as KPA, Sri Wahyuningsih.
For their actions, Nadiem and the other defendants are threatened with Article 2 Paragraph (1) and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 on Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) first of the Criminal Code.
