Living Lab Ventures Opens InnoLab for Global Companies to Test and Commercialise Technology in Indonesia
Living Lab Ventures (LLV), the corporate venture capital arm of Sinar Mas Land, is actively opening opportunities for global technology companies to test and commercialise their innovations in Indonesia through its InnoLab co-innovation platform. The platform enables global companies to explore technology implementation and develop proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives within an integrated ecosystem. Nitto Denko Asia Technical Centre is amongst the companies currently leveraging InnoLab, demonstrating how such collaboration facilitates technology testing within genuine market contexts.
InnoLab is designed as both a collaboration forum and execution platform, providing a clear pathway from technology exploration to market readiness. Through InnoLab, global companies can access a curated ecosystem of startups and industry partners, conduct business matching aligned with strategic needs, and develop PoCs at city scale. This approach allows companies to assess market readiness before broader expansion whilst obtaining direct implementation support within the Sinar Mas Land ecosystem.
Bayu Seto, Partner at Living Lab Ventures, stated: “We see many global companies with highly mature technologies that require the right platform to undertake localisation and market validation. InnoLab presents a structured framework enabling this process to proceed swiftly, measurably, and based on industry requirements. We are opening opportunities for companies from various countries seeking to test and develop their technologies in Indonesia.”
Ryota Masuda, President at Nitto Denko Asia Technical Centre, added: “Through InnoLab, we have received substantial support in networking, business development, and ecosystem building, and we are already witnessing tangible progress from various PoC initiatives. With a large population and openness to new ideas, Indonesia offers an attractive environment for creating new businesses whilst accelerating their implementation. We greatly appreciate Sinar Mas Land’s digital transformation efforts and hope that collaboration with InnoLab will further expedite validation and commercialisation processes in the Indonesian market.”
The principal strength of InnoLab lies in its integration with BSD City, a 6,000-hectare mega township developed by Sinar Mas Land with a population exceeding 500,000 residents. This ecosystem supports technology development across multiple sectors, including advanced materials and construction solutions, smart infrastructure and building systems, environmental and sustainability technology, industrial applications, and urban technology solutions.
Mulyawan Gani, Chief Executive Officer of Digital Business Sinar Mas Land, emphasised: “We have developed BSD City as a living laboratory enabling innovation to be tested at real scale. With an integrated ecosystem encompassing residential, commercial, educational, and industrial zones, we can facilitate various PoC schemes directly. We invite global companies seeking to establish Indonesia as a strategic market to leverage InnoLab and BSD City as platforms for technology validation and commercialisation.”
Through an open and industry-needs-based approach, LLV via InnoLab provides a strategic pathway for global companies to transition from the innovation stage to actual implementation in the Indonesian market. Companies can accelerate technology validation processes, establish partnerships with local startups, and prepare long-term commercialisation pipelines within an integrated and ready-to-use ecosystem.
