Live grenade found in Kintamani

DENPASAR, Bali: A resident of Kembangsari village near the Kintamani traditional market in Bangli regency, Bali, discovered a live grenade on a coffee plantation and handed it over to local police, Antara reported on Wednesday.

Bali's regional police spokesman, Adj. Sr. Comr. Y. Suyatmo, said the grenade had been placed in an open field in Kintamani, which had been cordoned off until the explosive was disposed of.

He dismissed speculation the grenade had been intentionally planted as an act of sabotage, saying the grenade was rusty, indicating it had been on the coffee plantation for a long time.

Police were questioning several witnesses on Wednesday in an attempt to ascertain the origin of the grenade.
