Representatives of the parents of victims in the alleged child abuse case at the Little Aresha Jogja daycare visited the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK). They requested support and submitted a claim for restitution or compensation.

One of the victims’ parents, Huri (32), stated that the reason for applying for restitution was to impoverish the suspect. She hoped that the leaders of the foundation overseeing the Little Aresha daycare would also be impoverished.

“We are requesting support, support for psychological needs or support for restitution,” Huri explained when met at the LPSK Yogyakarta Representative Office, Semaki, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta City, on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

“The restitution we are applying for is not merely for the rights or recovery of our child, but the main goal is to impoverish the perpetrator through this restitution process,” she continued.

Huri said that this restitution application effort is also a step to ensure the suspects receive the heaviest possible punishment.

“Even if the restitution is not granted later, at least if they are unable to pay, it can aggravate the perpetrator’s punishment,” Huri revealed.

“So what we are pursuing is to ensure the legal process runs as fairly as possible, as maximally as possible, by pushing for all potential legal consequences that we can encourage for the suspects,” she added.

LPSK: Restitution is an Inherent Right of Victims

Deputy Chair of LPSK Yogyakarta, Sri Suparyati, stated that restitution is a right of the victim. During this meeting, they also provided education and socialisation regarding restitution to the victims’ parents.

“This (restitution) is a right that is actually inherent in the rights, inherent to the victim, in this case represented by the family. Restitution is compensation paid by the perpetrator,” Suparyati explained.

“Therefore, this should also be communicated to law enforcement officials regarding the restitution rights that belong to the victim’s family,” she added.

After this meeting, LPSK will review the victims’ requests. LPSK is committed to supporting the victims. They will soon build collaborations with various parties because the number of victims is quite large.

Suparyati suspects that the number of Little Aresha daycare victims is far more than currently found. This is because the Little Aresha daycare has been operating for quite a long time.

“We, LPSK, see that at least further deepening is needed regarding the criminal act that occurred yesterday, so actually the victims are not only the babies but also those at preschool age who are also victims,” she concluded.
