Little Aresha Jogja Daycare Case, Eko Suwanto: This Case Must Be Resolved!
Chairman of Commission A of the DIY DPRD, Eko Suwanto, has called on law enforcement to thoroughly conclude the legal process in the case of alleged violence against children at the Little Aresha daycare in Yogyakarta City.
The Chairman of the PDI Perjuangan DPC in Yogyakarta City also urged the police to impose severe penalties on the perpetrators, including the masterminds behind the daycare.
“We fully support the law enforcement authorities in processing the legal case of the alleged violence that occurred. No more violence against children should be allowed to go unpunished. This case must be resolved, with the legal process completed,” Eko stated in his remarks on Sunday (26/4/2026).
“We urge the law enforcement authorities to fully uncover this case. Impose severe punishment on the masterminds and the perpetrators of this crime and violence against children. Violence against children and toddlers is an extraordinary crime,” he emphasised.
Eko assessed that the violence at Little Aresha clearly violates the rights of children and toddlers to grow and develop well. To that end, he will soon hold a meeting with relevant parties to address the case further.
“In response to the developments in this case, Commission A plans to hold a coordination meeting with relevant agencies this week, as soon as possible,” revealed Hasto.
“Children must receive genuine protection. We encourage greater attention to be devoted to ensuring that children in Yogyakarta can grow and develop and receive proper protection,” he concluded.
Previously, police raided the Little Aresha daycare in Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta City, over allegations of child abuse on Friday (24/4). During the operation, police officers directly witnessed the carers’ treatment of the children.
“It is true that on the 24th, we conducted a raid on a childcare facility where our officers directly saw that the children were being treated inhumanely,” said Head of Criminal Investigation at Jogja Police Resort, Commissioner Police Riski Adrian, to reporters on Saturday (25/4/2026).
“But indeed, in conclusion, it was inhumanely. Because some had their legs tied, their hands tied, and so on. That’s the general explanation I can give,” he added.
From preliminary examinations, Adrian continued, a total of dozens of children were victims. Nevertheless, investigators are still conducting investigations. The number of victims may continue to increase.
“For those we saw acts of violence against, there were around 53 people. Based on data,” Adrian revealed.
