Lithium Batteries Boost Electric Motorcycle Range to 75 Kilometres
Battery technology development has become a primary focus for electric vehicle manufacturers, particularly through the use of lithium batteries. This advancement is evident in the MT1500 Li, the latest electric motorcycle from United E-Motor, which replaces the SLA battery technology of the previous generation with a 72V 26Ah Lithium battery.
The use of lithium batteries allows the MT1500 Li to travel up to 75 kilometres on a single charge. Meanwhile, charging from 0% to 80% takes approximately 2.5 hours via the Direct Charging system.
Beyond the battery, performance aspects have also been enhanced in this model. The MT1500 Li features a top power of 2,700W and a maximum torque of 106.9 Nm at 128.3 RPM. The electric motor can reach a maximum speed of 70 km/h and provides three speed mode options: 25 km/h, 40 km/h, and 70 km/h.
A reverse feature is also available at a speed of 5 km/h to assist with manoeuvring in confined areas. Henry Mulyadi, Director of PT Terang Dunia Internusa Tbk (UNTD), stated that the transition to lithium battery technology is part of the MT1500’s development to align the product with evolving electric vehicle technology and consumer needs.
“We have upgraded the MT1500 with lithium battery technology to provide a better combination of performance, range, and practicality for consumers,” Henry said in an official statement.
In addition to the battery, the development of the MT1500 Li includes design and features intended for daily use. The motorcycle features a ‘Robotic Futuristic Design Fender’ paired with an LED Projector Headlight. For the suspension, the MT1500 Li utilises a 4-level adjustable rear shock breaker, allowing the rear suspension to be adjusted according to riding requirements.
The braking system employs hydraulic disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels. Regarding electrical safety, an MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) is provided.
To support daily mobility needs, the MT1500 Li offers a storage capacity of 28 litres. Other features include an LED digital panel display, a USB port, a mechanical key with remote, an anti-theft alarm system, power cut-off, repair mode, parking mode, and anti-rollback.
With the combination of lithium batteries, a range of up to 75 kilometres, various riding modes, and supporting features, the MT1500 Li has been developed as an electric vehicle that merges performance with practicality.
The latest model will be introduced more closely to consumers at the BCA Expo 2026, held from 11–13 September 2026 at ICE BSD City, Tangerang. During the event, visitors will be able to view the MT1500 Li in person and obtain detailed information regarding its technology, features, and electric vehicle specifications.
