List of University Student Councils Whose Names Were Misappropriated by BEM Bersatu
A number of student organisations from various universities have issued statements regarding the emergence of the BEM Bersatu (United Student Executive Board) alliance. The group of representatives claiming to be students in this alliance accused former UGM Student Executive Board Chairman Tiyo Ardianto of having connections with a particular political party. BEM Bersatu stated that the car used by Tiyo was allegedly registered under the name of Siti Nuraini, the sister of retired Army Lieutenant General Setyo Sularso. The retired general is said to be the in-law of retired Army General Andhika Perkasa, a cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and a member of Ganjar Pranowo’s campaign team for the 2024 presidential election. PDIP denied any involvement in the critical actions carried out by Tiyo Ardianto, particularly his criticism of the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals project. Meanwhile, Tiyo Ardianto chose not to respond to personal accusations. BEM Bersatu consists of individuals claiming to be students and representatives of student organisations at several campuses. They include Wildan Ricky as Chairman of the Law Faculty Student Council at Unisia, Muhammad Yani from the Law Faculty Student Council at UIJ, Ardin Zulkifly as Chairman of the Social and Political Sciences Faculty Student Council at Universitas Nasional, Ardiansyah as Chairman of the Student Council at Institut Al-Aqidah, Ahmad Ghazy from the Psychology Faculty Student Council at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, and Alfi as Chairman of the Economics and Business Faculty Student Council at Universitas Pamulang. There were also students claiming to be Chairman of the Law Student Council at UIC Rahmat Djimbula, Dicky from the FIPS Student Council at Unindra, Ahmad from the Engineering and Informatics Faculty Student Council at Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika, and Rezky Anandar from the Social Sciences and Administrative Management Faculty Student Council at Institut STIAMI. Several student organisations whose names were misappropriated by BEM Bersatu have denied being part of the alliance. The Engineering and Informatics Faculty Student Council at Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika stated they never sent a representative or attended the press conference held by the BEM Bersatu alliance. They said they do not have an administrator, member, or chairman named Ahmad as claimed. ‘BEM FTI UBSI never gave a mandate to any party to represent the organisation in the said activity,’ they wrote in a statement on their Instagram account @bemftiubsi on Wednesday, 17 June 2026. The Psychology Faculty Student Council at Universitas Negeri Jakarta denied sending a representative named Ahmad Ghazy to the BEM Bersatu alliance. They stated their organisation’s identity had been misappropriated, an act deemed to have violated organisational ethics. Ahmad Ghazy, according to BEM FPSI UNJ, is an alumnus from the 2020 cohort and is not part of this year’s members or administrators. ‘The actions and views expressed are the personal responsibility of the individual concerned,’ they said on their Instagram account @bemfpsiunj. The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Nasional, in an official statement, denied the claim by Ardin Zulkifly who called himself Chairman of the FISIP Unas Student Council. They stated they do not have a faculty-level student council organisation. FISIP Unas stated that Ardin Zulkifly’s presence in the BEM Bersatu alliance is a personal responsibility. ‘He has no institutional capacity to represent FISIP Universitas Nasional based on the said position,’ the statement read. The Faculty of Education and Social Sciences Student Council at Universitas Indraprasta PGRI denied the claim by Dicky who said he represented BEM FIPPS Unindra in the BEM Bersatu alliance. They stated that Dicky is not part of the organisation. ‘All actions, statements, and resulting consequences are the personal responsibility of the individual concerned,’ the official statement read on Thursday, 18 June 2026. BEM FIPPS Unindra said it remains committed to maintaining the integrity and independence of the student movement, which should be a space for struggle based on intellectual values, responsibility, and the collective interests of students. ‘The use of institutional identity must be carried out with a spirit of togetherness and through good coordination,’ it stated.
