List of TNI Generals Rumoured to be Candidates for Head of Strategic Intelligence Agency
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo has officially resigned from his position as Head of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais) on Wednesday (25/3/2026). This information was officially conveyed by the TNI’s Head of Information Centre (Kapuspen), Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah.
Following Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo’s resignation, the Kabais position is being held by acting official (pjs) Lieutenant General Richard Taruli Horja Tampubolon, who is currently the TNI Chief of General Staff (Kasum). The definitive Kabais TNI position must soon be filled by a high-ranking TNI officer (pati) who has previously served in the field.
Currently, several pati are being touted as potential Kabais TNI candidates:
- Major General Bosco Haryo Yunanto
Major General Bosco Haryo Yunanto currently serves as Deputy Head of Kabais TNI. He previously held the position of Commander of the Intelligence Unit (Dansatintel) of Bais TNI in October 2023.
- Marshal Major Benedictus Benny Koessetianto
Marshal Major (Marsda) Benedictus Benny Koessetianto currently serves as Secretary of Bais TNI, the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency. He also previously held positions as Head of the Laiklambangjaau Centre (Kapuslaiklambangjaau) and Assistant for Intelligence (Asintel) to the Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU).
- Major General Rio Firdianto
Major General Rio Firdianto is an Indonesian Army (TNI AD) pati who currently holds the position of Assistant to the TNI Commander. Previously, he served as Commander of Military Regional Command (Pangdam) I/Bukit Barisan. He has also held prestigious positions such as Commander of the Presidential Security Force Group D and Commander of the Intelligence Unit of Bais TNI. Rio has a strong background in intelligence.
- Lieutenant General Sonny Aprianto
Lieutenant General (Letjen) Sonny Aprianto currently serves as Special Staff to the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD). He previously held the position of Coordinator of Expert Staff (Koorsahli) to the KSAD and Assistant for Intelligence (Asintel) to the TNI Commander in 2023. Sonny also served as Deputy for Counter-Intelligence at the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) from 2021-2022, as well as Commander of the Army Intelligence Centre (Danpusintelad) from 2018-2021.
- Major General Rudy Rachmat Nugraha
Major General Rudy Rachmat Nugraha, a pati with experience in intelligence, previously held the position of Assistant for Intelligence to the TNI Commander from 2024-2025. Currently, Rudy serves as Director General of the Ministry of National Development Planning (Kemenimipas). He also briefly served as Commander of Military Regional Command VI/Mulawarman from January to December 2025.
