List of Schools Affected by MBG Poisoning in East Jakarta
Hundreds of pupils from seven schools in the Cakung area of East Jakarta were rushed to healthcare facilities after experiencing poisoning symptoms resulting from consuming free nutritious meal provisions (MBG).
Jakarta Health Department Head Ani Ruspitawati stated that as of today, 26 pupils remain under hospital treatment. “The number of victims, based on reports from parents to the schools, totals 252 pupils,” said Ani on Saturday, 9 May 2026.
However, out of the 252 victims, only 188 pupils sought medical services. According to Ani, some did not access healthcare because they considered the symptoms mild.
Regarding the suspected cause, Ani said the Jakarta Health Department has taken samples of the remaining food for laboratory testing. The test results are expected at the earliest on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, next week. “The preliminary suspicion (of poisoning) stems from the fried tofu wrappers,” Ani stated.
This food poisoning case occurred after pupils consumed the MBG provisions on Friday, 8 May 2026. Based on information gathered by Tempo, pupils experienced nausea after eating the food distributed by SPPG Pulogebang 15.
