List of Indonesian National Police Chiefs Through the Ages: Longest Tenure 14 Years, Shortest 262 Days
The leadership of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) has changed once again. President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Suyudi Ario Seto as the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri), replacing Listyo Sigit Prabowo today, Thursday (1/10/202<0xA0>6).
This transition marks the end of Listyo Sigit’s leadership, which began on 27 January 2021. Listyo served for 2,073 days, making him the second-longest-serving Chief of Police in the history of the Indonesian National Police.
The longest tenure in the position was held by Raden Said Soekanto Tjokrodiatmodjo, who served for 5,189 days, or more than 14 years, from 29 September 1945 to 14 December 1959.
On the other hand, the shortest tenure was held by Roesdihardjo, who led for only 262 days, from 4 January to 22 September 2000.
There was also General Hoegeng Iman Santoso, the fifth Chief of Police, who served for 1,235 days between 1968 and 1971. Hoegeng remains widely recognised as a symbol of honest, simple, and high-integrity policing; even the Indonesian National Police refers to him as one of the most well-known figures for his honesty.
