The management of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex is making operational adjustments ahead of the scheduled eviction of the former Hotel Sultan land on Thursday (18/6). Several access points and facilities within the area will be temporarily closed during the process. The operational adjustments were announced via the Instagram account @love_gbk. In the announcement, the public was asked to adjust their routes and activities during the closure. “In the context of the eviction of the former Hotel Sultan (BLOCK 15 of the GBK Complex), for the smooth running and comfort of #GBKPeople, operational adjustments will be made,” the post stated, as quoted on Wednesday (17/6). Based on the information provided, Gate 5, Gate 7, and Gate 8 will be closed from 00.00 to 24.00 WIB. During this period, access to and from the GBK complex will be diverted through Gate 2, Gate 10, and Gate 6 for pedestrians. Not only gate access, several other areas are also temporarily closed. The closure applies to the East Parking area, the City Forest, the Softball Stadium, and the section of KTT Road leading to the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) for a full day. Meanwhile, other facilities and areas within the GBK complex continue to operate normally. This measure is being taken in line with the planned eviction of Block 15 of the GBK complex, which has been ordered by the Central Jakarta District Court. Previously, the court had also carried out a constatering, or verification of the disputed object’s data, on 16 March as part of the stages leading to the execution. However, the eviction plan still faces opposition from PT Indobuildco, the operator of Hotel Sultan. The company’s legal counsel, Hamdan Zoelva, believes the execution could potentially create new legal problems and impact many parties linked to the hotel’s operations. Hamdan stressed that the dispute concerns the status of the land, not the building or the business activities operating on it. According to him, these aspects cannot be ignored in the execution process. “What must be understood is that the dispute is about the land, not the building and not the hotel business. The Hotel Sultan business is absolutely owned by PT Indobuildco,” Hamdan said in his statement on Wednesday (27/5).
